WHY ARE SKI POLES IMPORTANT?

Ski poles are more than just an accessory. They not only provide support and stability, but also ensure better balance and healthy movement. The optimal ski pole helps you push, support and turn. There is no one answer to the question of which ski pole is the right one. A lot depends on one's own well-being. Nevertheless, there are some important facts that we would like to explain to you so that you can find the right pole for you.

CARBON OR ALUMINIUM?

A large part of our ski poles consists of high-strength aluminum shafts. These are prepared and hardened in a process specially developed by LEKI. This gives the aluminum shafts maximum stability and allows them to withstand extreme conditions. Aluminum poles are less sensitive to impacts and edge cuts and are therefore very durable.

Carbon fibers are about 8 times thinner than a human hair and are produced in a technology-intensive process. Thanks to this high-quality raw material, our carbon canes are extremely light and have a high bending strength.

WHICH GRIP SYSTEM IS THE RIGHT ONE?

Our trigger click system gives you a direct connection between glove and pole, improving control while skiing. Your ski pole is firmly attached to your hand, so pushing requires much less force and the pole can no longer get lost during the lift. Thanks to the self-triggering safety mechanism, our trigger system can also prevent injuries.

ADJUSTABLE OR FIXED LENGTH?

For skiing, a fixed-length pole is the optimal choice. Once you have found the right length, you don't really need to adjust your poles. For ski tourers we recommend flexible variable poles, as the poles should be much shorter when going uphill than when going downhill. For children and young people, poles that grow with them are also useful.

HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT POLE LENGTH?

A rule of thumb says that the pole is the right length when it is placed vertically on the ground and your upper and lower arm form a 90° angle. If you are still unsure or would like to have the length calculated exactly, we also have a pole length advisor on our website. Simply enter your height and select the type of sport and you will find out the optimum length.
