Following the successful October 2009 introduction of Nordic Walking as a fitness offering to guests on Crystal Cruises, Nordic Walking Pole specialist Rick Deutsch will be on board Crystal Symphony's May 12th cruise from Dubai to Athens to teach classes and train the ship’s fitness instructors, who will lead demonstrations on subsequent voyages.

Nordic walking offers many physical positives — improved posture, balance, muscle tone and bone density, lower blood pressure and lower stress levels.

But Lindy Smith, who teaches Nordic walking classes at the North Fort Myers Community Center, sees much more than that.

Leading pole manufacturer LEKI USA and Nordic Walking North America (NWNA) joined forces to participate in the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting in San Diego this past weekend. In addition to promoting the benefits of Nordic Walking and associated products and services as exhibitors at the conference, the two companies also hosted an hour-long Nordic Walking session for over 100 physical therapists on Saturday morning outside the San Diego Convention Center.
